Lost in a New Hobby

A few years ago my sister offered me her sewing machine, because she never used it, and I had big plans.

Big plans indeed, well in my head these plans were big1, but IRLTM nothing happened and the sewing machine was gathering dust in one of my bookcases.

Cue the end of 2023: I am not a big fan of making broad sweeping New Year’s Resolutions, but at the beginning of January 2024 I followed a 2-hour course called “Getting to know your sewing machine”. It was wonderful, but together with the teacher, we decided to keep my sewing machine at location for big maintenance. Only a week later I was stuck in bed with a horrible flu, and I was bored but too ill to do anything. Thanks to an article in The Guardian2, I started watching the videos on the YT channel The Last Homely House3.

And that was it.

By March 2024 I started a six week course (with the same company as my previous sewing machine course) on general clothing repair, and I had purchased my first fabric.

Recovering from the flu, I stumbled upon a very calming (and popular) YT channel, after reading an article in The Guardian.

I guess I caught a sewing bug, because after realising I needed a pin/needle cushion, I made one last night ... I fear I have found a new hobby besides my passion for cross stitch embroidery! :lego_closedblushhappy:
