Weekly Meal Plan)
I enjoy cooking and the preperation of dishes: give me a carrot and onion, and I will keep myself occupied with the mis en place. Slicing and dicing, and I always try to improve my brunoise. However, I needed help to challenge myself to keep cooking, hopefully without wasting food and with divers recipes and techniques. I downloaded an app (Sidekick by Sorted Food) and I have started planning my meals now a week in advance, including the possibility of extra portions for future meals.
No idea yet how long I will last, but I am aiming to move towards more auto-pilot so that this becomes my new normal.
Recently, I realised that I frequently order in via Uber or Thuisbezorgd.
And I love cooking? How did this happen? I have no problems cooking for one person, but the one-click ease of the take-away services took over. I ended up ordering in food upto twice a week, and my remaining meals were not always inspiring. This did not feel good, both literally and figuratively.
Ten days ago I restarted my cooking habits: each evening I had to make a meal for myself, or reheat any previously cooked meals (when making larger hearty dishes, I always store portions away in the freezer, these are presents for my future self). Each meal is now planned and registered in a notebook, keeping check on the number of days I am keeping to my plan!
Week 1: done!
So far so good. Next week, based on the fresh vegetables coming in with my weekly fresh vegetable package, I planned in a new weekly menu.

Leftovers will hopefully make it until lunch in the office on Tuesday, but I cannot make promises.
Yesterday’s dish (Warm Winter Panzanella) just was not my thing, so I ended up eating bread with some dips. Not the meal I was planning.
I have found it hard to stick to the meal plan this week, because work has been very hectic and I have slipped once ordering in a pizza.
Still, the will to plan is still present and for tonight I have plans to make a quesadilla dish with some leftover avocados.
