Whenever I start a new Nora Roberts novel, I often cannot put down the book. So last night, even though I should have slept, I continued reading.
It’s fair to say that my dreams last night were far from restful. The storyline in The Obsession kept me from a quiet night, but gosh, it was worth it!
I love how Nora Roberts always gives me a female main character with a fully fleshed out background story and enough gumption to keep me fixed on the story. However, I am getting a bit tired of the strong male characters who simply grab the protagonist simply because they know the other person will not mind being kissed/
fucked/whatever-ed, without even waiting for clear acknowledgement of approval.
He stepped up. She should’ve seen it coming. She was always, always aware of moods and moves. But he stepped up, pulled her in before she’d read the warning signs.
As much as I like reading about two people falling in love, you do not ever take what you want without clear approval from the other person. Never.
And much as I love this book and it stories, scenes like these – of which this title has a few – will turn me away. It’s by the grace of my faith in the author that I keep reading, but it does leave a bitter aftertaste.
