Giant Knotweed, Fallopia sachalinensis - a continuing story!
It seems that people-in-the-know are not quite certain whether the botanists at the Leiden Hortus have tagged this plant correctly. The owner/author of the blogpost has tried to contact the Leiden Hortus, but never received a reply.
Last Friday (May 6) I was in the Leiden University Botanical Gardens, on the hunt for strawberries. Luckily, a colleague reminded me to check out the mystery surrounding one of my photos.
Is it or isn’t it?
Giant Knotweed, Fallopia sachalinensis, or simply a mislabeled plant?
In the Botanical Garden of the University of Leiden?
They should know their plants!
Unfortunately there was not a name sign/tag to explain the proper name of this plant, but it was still in its same location. Armed with my trusty phone I took some photos, hoping this will help clear/solve this mystery!
